Every winter, Metz turns into a true Christmas fairy tale: sparkling lights, warm wooden chalets, the towering tree, the scent of mulled wine and sweet or savoury treats, the panoramic tower, the Ferris wheel… In 2025, the festivities return from 21 November to 30 December, with events and iconic sites that will delight visitors of all ages.

What to See and Do
The Five Historic Squares
The Christmas Market stretches across five squares: Place de la République, Place d’Armes, Place Saint-Jacques, Place Saint-Louis and Place de la Comédie. Each has its own atmosphere — crafts, treats, Christmas decorations…
Place de la Comédie: The Gourmet Village
Enjoy a festive meal in a warm and friendly setting, just steps from the Temple Neuf and the Moselle.
Place Saint-Louis: The Traditions Village
Beneath medieval arcades, the chalets showcase the best of local crafts and creations. It’s the perfect spot for a tasty break.
Place d’Armes J.F. Blondel: Lights from Above
Admire a magical view over Metz, its illuminated rooftops, the cathedral and sparkling decorations from the Ferris wheel.
Place Saint-Jacques: The Delights Village
Between two shopping stops in town or at the Market, indulge in spiced sweets, traditional confections and warm drinks that soothe both hands and heart.
Place de la République: Around the Great Christmas Tree
Rise above the city with the City Skyliner, an 81-metre panoramic tower offering spectacular views. At nightfall, the thousand lights of the grand tree illuminate the square.

The Lantern Trail
From 22 November, Square Boufflers is transformed: over 2,000 glowing lanterns create a poetic, enchanting world.
Opening Hours (22 November – 30 December)
Sunday to Thursday: 5 pm – 8 pm
Friday and Saturday: 5 pm – 9 pm
